Deal with active water first
A fresh ceiling mark raises obvious questions. Find the source, repair it and let the area dry before redecorating.
Keep the invoice and photographs
A short note describing the area repaired is more useful than an invoice saying only 'roof work'.
Do not renovate sound roofing for appearance alone
Different-coloured replacement slates or weathered mortar are not automatically defects. Concentrate on security, drainage and active leaks.
If a survey identifies something new
Ask what the surveyor has actually observed and whether further inspection is recommended. Do not assume every roof comment means wholesale renewal.
